Quin Barrie began his career as an artist over 23 years ago, in the field of high realism nature art.

However, after a few years painting photo-realistic landscape and wildlife images, he found his artistic interests lay in more surrealistic and mystical themes. He quickly turned his focus to to the genres of "visionary" art and "surrealism".

These forms of art reflected his self explorations and allowed him to bring to the canvas the unseen feelings and imagery within his mind. It became his intention to not merely replicate the natural world visually, but to convey he 'invisible' sights within his minds eye, blended with elements and facets of nature.

"For me, it is not enough to just illustrate the visible - my art has the greatest meaning to me when I portray the imagery in my imagination. I try to capture those images before they go fleeting by, so they can be seen by others as well."

Quin was born in Ontario, Canada, and he chose an unconventional life after leaving high

school, spending many years wandering across Canada from coast to coast, exploring the indescribably beauty of this land.

These experiences and journeys have served as a tremendous stimulus and resource for his paintings and other creative endeavours.

As an artist, Quin is entirely self taught with no formal art education. His medium is acrylic on canvas, tempered masonite or acid-free illustration board. In recent years with the explosion of digital imaging, he now also includes digital photography as one of his amateur creative pursuits.

Another major creative element of his life is music; and in his home studio, he explores the intangible dimensions within the acoustic realms of ambient and soundtrack style music.

He currently works from his country studios outside Toronto, Ontario.
